One thing I don't like about elastic thread is that it untangles easily. Which either gets tangled or becomes a mere thread. Hand sewing could be better. BE SURE TO JOIN THE END OF THE THREAD and knot often when sewing. I haven't tried it on my sewing machine yet. But if you do, consider sewing the back often. I think this may be common to all or most elastic threads. They appear to be made by twisting very thin elastic threads.
