So far I've really liked the PRUNUS J-05 radio. I bought this a few months ago because I wanted a sensitive bathroom radio that could pick up a low power (100W) FM station in another city that my other radios didn't seem to pick up as easily. These other radios required a lot of fiddling to position them in exactly the right spot, which was typically an impractical location for a radio. The PRUNUS J-05 does its job very well and masters weak stations very well without too much effort. Weak or distant FM stations may require extending the antenna completely. But the radio can be placed in a convenient location and will hear the weak/distant station I wanted to hear crystal clear. Get some "ghost signals" (repeating signals) on either side of the actual signal you want to hear. These signals are usually heard just as well. As others have pointed out, this is similar to an older feature called Automatic Frequency Control, or AFC, which automatically switches to a stronger signal when you're tuned into a less comfortable signal. This can be remedied by making sure you tune into the real original signal and not those other ghost signals. But that's a very small price to pay for such a sensitive radio at such a decent price. As with other modern portable radios that don't sit in the premium price bracket, the only sacrifice (if any) may be the quality of the AM audio you get. The signals are strong and this radio is also more sensitive than any other I own (or even my smaller Sangean). But most radios I've bought in the last 5-10 years seem to have given up on providing any sort of height resolution above 3 or 4k in the AM band. Older radios offered much higher treble resolution (almost an extra octave of treble resolution) with AM. This is probably a holdover from when AM radio was still very usable for music (Top 40). But I guess I'm showing my age here. A premium radio like the Crosley I own sounds great on FM and very respectable on AM, but AM reception is mostly non-existent save for maybe a 50,000 watt Clear Channel transmitter (and my Crosley is having serious problems with false AM signals from far away). AM band that appears further down the band). As already mentioned, PRUNUS J-05 is also very sensitive to the weather range. I'm very good at picking up some signals. Other radios that I have in the house with a weather group can hardly receive them. In terms of general sound quality, the radio has very decent sound quality, especially for FM voice radio. I find it has a decent amount of high end (on FM) which really makes the vocals stand out. Here, too, one does not have to speak of a high level with AM radio. But the PRUNUS J-05 has a full sound that will project and will definitely do its job. it has quite a loud volume and will go further than any other radio I have in the house other than my home stereo. It may sound more brilliant out of the box than full, but give it time. Eventually it will break down and the bass will sound fuller and the treble will complement it. I highly recommend PRUNUS J-05 and will buy it again.
