The volume button is not compatible with my Samsung TV

Very easy to use. I just need to put batteries in the remote control. But for some reason the volume button doesn't work. I can see the TV speaker going up and down on the TV screen but the volume doesn't really change! I do not know why. And when I went back to my original Samsung remote, the volume works fine. I have no idea why this is happening. I assume this doesn't work with my Samsung TV?
