The lamp itself is beautiful - beautiful shape, good base. However, the dimmer literally stopped working the first time I used it - now it's "on" or "off". The dimmer function was the main reason I chose this item over others, so it's disappointing. Equally annoying: I want a lamp on my desk, but the "on" setting is very bright; This setting also causes my computer and desk lamp to flicker due to electromagnetic interference. I don't think the wire is rated for the current drawn by the lamp, which causes both problems. I've taken enough electrical engineering courses to know that I can't trust leaving it on to keep the lightbulb off until I buy. a new switch and wire, and install a new fitting on a piece of salt. I will not send it back for exchange: I don't trust electrical components and wouldn't want another of the same design. So pretty solid but potentially unsafe electrical components.
