The back of the shoe hurts

They are very cute but there is a 'hard' straight stabilizing piece that runs down the middle of the back of each shoe which is very uncomfortable and causes blisters. I used a pocket knife, cut about 1 inch off this piece and glued the back of the shoe together. It's much more comfortable, but the hot glue doesn't hold and the shoes don't look as cute anymore.
