Nice set. My college aged son loves it. I haven't washed it yet, I usually do it just before I put the sheets on the bed, but he grabbed it and put it on before I could. There was no chemical smell. The kit looks exactly like it does in the picture. As previously mentioned, pillowcases do not accommodate king size pillows in any way. I've put standard/king pillows in covers and they fit well. The pillows I bought were $3.99 each from Target as they are more for looks than sleep. Also, I bought a king bed set for a double because other reviewers said the duvet was better suited for a queen. It definitely is, so thanks to all the people before me who were kind enough to post these suggestions.
