Review on Sperry Authentic Original 2 Eye Nubuck: Classic Boat Shoes with Superior Nubuck Finish by Jack Duncan

In my opinion it is very convenient.

This is the second pair of Sperry Topsiders I own. I bought my first pair over thirty years ago and I still wear them! The first pair was very well done! But we all know that no pair of shoes lasts thirty years. I stopped wearing my 30 year old pair for a very long time because I decided to go for shoes with more support and more aggressive soles. Sperry tops are definitely designed for light use, perhaps aboard a hobby yacht. But I rediscovered my old pair when I decided I wanted shoes rather than slippers that I could only wear at home. These topsiders are perfect for this and in this role they will last almost forever. So I finally had to buy this new pair when the old leather laces finally failed and I couldn't find a shoemaker to plug them in (do shoemakers still exist?). In truth, there's nothing embarrassing about finally giving up a 30-year-old pair of shoes! The new shoes fit like the old ones! I was relieved to find that Sperry still uses the same lasts because I usually take an 8 1/2, but my old Sperrys were 8. So I took a chance and ordered another size 8 and they fit perfectly; the same as the old ones. So keep in mind that the Sperry Topsider is about half a size larger and the leather will also stretch a little and get a little bigger. On the other hand, they offer a very comfortable shoe "inside" and since they are laced, they do not "dangle" like slippers.

Pros
  • I haven't had docks in a long time. These are the perfect summer shoes and they fit great.
Cons
  • Minimal cushioning can lead to foot fatigue over time.
