Review on Acer KG271U Abmiipx 2560X1440 WQHD Monitor: Enhanced Backlit Display, Model UM.HX1AA.A07 by Donald Mitchell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

1 month usage Purchased early February 2021 (updated 8 months usage)

Built-in Monitor Menu: Yes, it is accessible with a joystick, also you have 3 buttons to select different categories or custom modes. Frames and edges: At a distance of 0.5 inches from the edge, we start to see the screen. This means that 1 inch separates two such monitors next to each other. It's pretty decent for a dual setup, personally I would invest in a 2k/4k monitor setup that comes with this monitor. Viewing Angles: This monitor has really very sharp and amazing viewing angles and is also perfect for editing on a budget. .Brightness or Luminance: Extremely bright indeed, it's insanely bright. Mine runs at 0% brightness with night mode on and it's still bright. I'd have to adjust settings other than brightness to dim the lights on this monitor. This is an LED backlit LCD panel. Response Speed: HDMI 2.0 and display cable out of the box that supports up to 165Hz. I haven't experienced any form of ghosting, I don't have a GPU so I'm currently using a Ryzen 2200g APU. I've played Apex Legends, COD War Zone, and League of Legends. I can't test other games because I don't currently own an RTX 3080. Adjustment: The monitor can be tilted up or down. You need a work stand to support the landscape look. This desktop mount is very durable. Display: Full 1080p FHD LED-backlit LCD screen. This monitor arrived in thick styrofoam packaging. 100% no dead pixels, I couldn't believe it myself 0 dead pixels. I have friends who bought expensive monitors with dead pixels. Surprisingly, I don't have any of these problems. However, I noticed a slight IPS glow. Very little I would say as it's almost imperceptible until the screen goes pitch black and you have to look to the left corner to see it. Easy on the eyes and suitable for long games. Monitor size: 27 inch monitors are 24 to 25 inches wide and 14 to 18 inches high depending on the height. This monitor fits a 27 inch monitor based on my measurement. Monitor Appearance (Build Quality): Black finish with subtle red accents on the stand. The blue light is on when the monitor is on and dark orange when the monitor is off. I have a feeling that ACER could have included red lighting on the back or a fancy print on the plastic to give it an edgy look. Speakers: Very good if you want to watch YouTube or listen to relaxing music while working/studying. I wouldn't recommend them for everyday use, but they're fun. They're not that loud at around 93 decibels. Contrast Ratio: Dark black is fair but could be better. This is an IPS monitor that helps create high quality images. I haven't adjusted the contrast yet because I'm happy with it. Margins: Very narrow and visible unless you use stretchable wallpaper. There are no stuck pixels 0%. Update after 8 months of use: (Right now I can't buy a 6900xt or RTX 3080, until then I'm considering getting a PS5 for this monitor) The HDMI cable is pretty unstable after 8 months, that's true Chad found that Watching some videos from some websites affected the display of the image. I would have to plug it back in, oddly it wasn't a monitor but just the HDMI wasn't such good aftermarket quality. Brightness - the nits on this thing are crazy, very bright for some reason, but I love it. I would give this monitor a 9/10 for 1080p gaming.
