The Surface Pro has only one USB port, so only one USB device can be connected at a time. It is very important to me that this USB hub allows me to access the contents of my portable external hard drive while using a USB mouse and keyboard. I previously purchased another USB hub (model: HB-UMLS) from Sabrent and it worked reasonably well. The main reason I chose this rotating hub is that, unlike most other USB hubs, it doesn't have a short male-to-female cable. After a few tests, I'm happy to report that the hub was able to power all the USB peripherals I plugged into it. I was able to access content from my flash drive and external hard drive simultaneously using two mice and a keyboard. All worked perfectly as expected. I also checked the transfer speed between the internal and external USB hard drives. The transfer speed is fairly consistent and the connection during transfer is pretty solid whether the Surface Pro is plugged into a power source or not.
