Sturdy and beautiful for my 50# IBM Selectric III

Received my desk today, assembled it and am very happy with it. I bought it for my IBM Selectric III typewriter which weighs 48 pounds and measures 22 x 15 x 7 inches. There are several pictures with this review that show how well the typewriter fits on the table. I can also store my manuals, writing items (golf balls) and ribbons in the tray - much appreciated! The video I've attached shows me shaking the table to show how solid it is. I'm sure it won't tip over and damage the machine or hurt anyone. I also tried to show how my legs fit under the table. I'm 5ft 6in, 225lbs and have big legs. There is a 4" gap between the tops of my legs and the bottom of the table and 3" on each side of my legs. I can also put my feet comfortably on the table legs. So I have a feeling there will be enough legroom under the table for a medium sized adult. It is on the highest leg stretch in the pictures and videos. No wheels/castors were supplied and there is no easy way to retrofit them. There is a built-in nylon disc on the underside of the legs to allow the table to move on smooth surfaces. A heavy typewriter "dangles" as it moves; we're not talking about foosball here. But I won't move it far or often. I could look for other material for the underside (e.g. felt furniture pads) or knit small "socks" for each leg if I have to move the table a lot. I gave the table five stars on all counts. Just make sure you learn how to attach the legs. I didn't look at the diagram and they aren't marked, so the table had to be disassembled and the legs swapped (there are only two of them). If I hadn't been picky, I probably wouldn't have noticed. It also helps to have a friend hold the legs while you insert the screws into the pre-drilled holes during assembly; or you can use a pillow to prop them in place. This table is sturdy and it was worth the extra time putting it together. It will serve me for the rest of my life. The desk is mid-century in style, so it fits my typewriter perfectly. It's also much sturdier than the traditional typewriter table I had a long time ago (metal with fold-out leaves on each side). However, there is no room for an easel or reference material for my typing. I need to place something similar on another surface. I recommend this small table for a typewriter, sewing machine or other craft.
