Review on Adidas RPD-01 Wireless Bluetooth Sport In-Ear Headphones by Sarah Mailyafemail

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great sports headphones for runners

I don't write too many reviews. But there is something I want to say about this pair of headphones. I've been using them for several weeks. I can definitely not guarantee the durability. But I want to share my experience so far. For reasons unknown to me, most of the US reviews came from Vine Voice reviewers. According to Revane, this is a group of frequent reviewers who received the product for free in exchange for an honest review. It is very sweet. But it's still a little odd that almost all of the product reviews came from members of the Vine Voice program. I bought headphones from Revain with my own money. I can't be a constant reviewer, but in this case I have skin in it. Let me say that right away. This is a great pair of sports headphones. Operating word - sport. Adidas is Adidas; it's not Sennheiser or the other big headphone manufacturers. Adidas is a sporting goods manufacturer. I think if you're thinking about buying these headphones or earbuds, it would be wise to think of them as a sports accessory or piece of exercise equipment. I run almost every day. I sweat a lot - the headphones hold up well and their IPX4 rating looks conservative. They are well built and appear to be effectively sweat proof. The battery life is excellent. For those who run about 8-9 hours outdoors every week, I only need to charge them once a week. The collar is a great design. It's a good weight - not too heavy, not too light. It is comfortable to wear. Doesn't wobble or bounce. It's unobtrusive. I love physical buttons. The three buttons on the right side of the neck strap are easy to use, although understanding the placement of the volume up and volume down buttons takes a bit of getting used to. The adjustable button on the left side of the neck strap is a handy feature. If you have Spotify, you can play your own playlist from your running watch (like the Garmin Forerunner 645 Music) or your phone. I'm not fast and I need all the help I can get on this last mile of my run. Based on other reviews, the biggest complaint about the headphones is the sound quality, or lack thereof. I agree these are not the best headphones. I have a limited vocabulary to describe the sound quality. The sound is a bit grainy. It's a little veiled. But to be honest I don't think they sound that good in comparison. When I run, the sound in the headphones is clear and good enough. The bass is tight but not impressive. You can also customize your sound profile using the Adidas headphones app, which is essentially an equalizer app. I don't know - Bluetooth headphones have come a long way, but they're still not as good as wired headphones in the same or even cheaper price range. Bluetooth is compressed audio. They sacrifice sound quality for convenience. I know there are more advanced codecs like aptX and aptX HD (btw, I don't think these headphones support aptX), but if you're streaming from your sports watch or phone, the audio quality you get is every bit as good as the weak Connection. So if you try to listen to TIDAL MQA 24-bit files on these headphones in training mode or on any Bluetooth headphones, you will lose the sound quality. But the question is, can you see what is theoretically lost? ? YMMV I'm not ashamed of its less than ideal sound. I wonder how much I listen when I'm running hard (and I assume you're only reading this review if you're interested in buying workout headphones). Hate to admit it, but I have a hard time distinguishing CD-quality sound from Spotify's 320kbps sound when I'm sitting still, not to mention my heart beating at 180bpm and my own pulse in my ears throbbing. . As training headphones, the sound quality is good enough. I give the Adidas sports headphones five stars for the quality of workmanship and for a stable and unobtrusive design that doesn't bother. I think it's no coincidence that a reviewer from Vine Voice who took the headphones with him for his runs (the person uploaded some photos) also gave them five stars.
