Late 2015 iMac 27 " VESA

Pro Setup Tip: Balancing a heavy monitor, especially a 27" iMac in its heavy aluminum chassis, can be tricky when trying to move it use, be uncomfortable with one hand the other hand faster to tighten the four VESA screws behind the monitor. That is, considering that most people will assemble this solo and most people only have two arms and hands. But here's how it gets easier: with the Cotytech mount fully installed on the table, tilt the monitor mount up until it's no longer pointing at the ceiling. Then you can just put the monitor back on the mount and hold it with gravity. Hold the monitor with one hand to prevent it from slipping off. Use your holding hand to gently pivot the monitor until the screw holes align with the VESA mount, and then gently use your other hand to slide the mount fasten Insert four screws as far as they will go. You can then use a screwdriver to tighten at least three screws, possibly a fourth depending on availability. After installing at least three screws, tilt the monitor forward until it reaches its normal vertical orientation. You can now adjust the monitor arm until the fourth screw hole is accessible and you are done. It's a lot of words, but it's actually a very simple process. So I have a late 2015 27" iMac 5k with an integrated VESA mount from Apple. To clarify, I ordered an iMac with a VESA mount direct from the factory, which means it *didn't* come with a base board to I emailed the seller to ask if I could position the iMac very close to the table top and according to the Q&A here they usually said yes so I ordered this product and then mailed to them an email describing my iMac and its built in VESA mount They sent me a Clamb-B base and a PC311-HD-S spring arm This build was put together in just a few simple steps Stages The spring arm fits my iMac's VESA bolt pattern and comes with a variety of bolt lengths and spacers to fit various other VESA monitors, but the spring lifts it about 2-1/4" above the table. That's good ge enough for me as the center of the screen is now a few inches below my eyes when sitting at my desk, generally in line with ergonomic guidelines. In comparison, iMacs with stands (most people buy iMacs) and Apple Cinema displays sit about 4 inches above the table (which can cause the user to crane their neck). I didn't use the ring clamp from the Cytotech stand to get my arm as low as possible (to save maybe 1/4". The adjustable spring tension is set at the weakest end of the range and still strong enough for lifting My 21 lb iMac a few inches from the desk I'll either be content with that or maybe use some sort of string to pull the spring arm down even further so my iMac is less than an inch from the desk (Enough for venting through the vents. Holes down.) I haven't tested the product's full range of motion, but I'm pleased with its ability to rotate toward me when accessing cable connections behind the iMac, and then mine easily Must slide display to the back of my desk for normal use I haven't bought a sit position fixture but if you do buy one I will I am not sure if this product is flexible enough The spring tension is basically adjusted once (to compensate for the weight of the monitor) and then does not change as the adjustment requires repeated insertion of the rod into the tensioning mechanism. The primary vertical freedom comes from the clamp ring shown in the images, which allows the spring arm to be raised about 6 to 7 inches above its base. That's probably only half the height adjustment range a seated and standing person might need, and a hex wrench is required to loosen and reposition the clamp ring (so not that easy). Here, however, I am satisfied with this monitor mount for my needs on the first day of use. For reference, my 27" iMac is much closer to my desktop than the Sanus VMD22-B1 mount I originally ordered from Apple. This mount from Cotytech makes the iMac look nice and low.
