If only it were infant formula

If this formula was FDA approved, regulated, labeled and marketed as an infant formula I would give it 5 stars out of 5. My son loves this formula and tolerates it better than any dairy or soy formula recommended by our pediatricians and nutritionists. this infant formula is rarely recommended. Interestingly, most of the reviews I have seen of this formula have come from parents who give this formula to infants who may not tolerate other infant formulas on the market or who prefer this formula to regular formula. Breastfeeding in the US is unreliable and undermines the autonomy of parents and caregivers to make individual decisions that are in the children's best interests. Additionally, punishing those who cannot breastfeed or struggle with breastfeeding, employer failure, US social norms, US infant formula marketing practices, etc. is cruel and short-sighted. Also, this approach does not support women's empowerment the labor market, LGBTQ+ families with adopted babies, mothers who have real medical restrictions on breastfeeding, and vegan families... to name a few. To be honest, there are better ways to support breastfeeding in the US. Our Story: After going back to work in the ICU, I struggled to maintain my breast milk for several months. I continue to struggle despite good social support, access to a hospital quality breast pump and following all of my lactation consultant's recommendations. Nearing retirement... I've tried everything but often fail and have a hungry/angry baby who is breastfed 24 hours a day during my shifts. I only started giving this formula on the days I work and my son went from almost 30th weight percentile to 60th weight percentile. I now feel guilty for being exclusively breastfed for so long and wish I could start supplementing with infant formula sooner. We initially decided to give it a try and ended up failing at several dairy and soy based formulas recommended by our pediatricians and nutritionists before trying this formula against their advice. Being a vegan family, I preferred this blend, but no doctor I've seen would recommend a "toddler" formula for my child. Now I feel guilty and unsupported for giving a formula that was not recommended for my baby. Who will win in this situation? Certainly not mothers and babies. However, there is no doubt that Nature's One knowingly derives a significant portion of its profits from parents feeding this formula to infants, while Nature's One has made no effort to ensure that these formulas are approved and regulated as infant formula in the United States.
