I bought this lantern for cross stitch and other embroidery. The lamp has 3 brightness levels and thus provides sufficient light even in a dark room. The clip is a nice size and provides a good grip on a table, desk or armrest of a chair. The base is heavy enough to remain very stable on a flat surface when I stretch the lighted magnifying glass over my project. Although the chain has some weight, I can't carry it in my sewing bag, which allows me to take it with me and sew anywhere. I like the rechargeable feature of this flashlight. So I can sew even if I don't have a socket. I get at least 4 hours on the brightest setting before the brightness starts to dim a bit. I also have a portable power bank that I plug into as soon as it shows signs of battery drain. I will definitely buy again. Update: In September 2019 I took this lantern along with the power bank on a cross stitch cruise to Alaska. Worked like a charm and I had no problem getting it, as did the two power banks I had on the Royal Caribbean ship I sailed on.
