Exactly what I was hoping for! I had to leave some butter to keep it soft. I've tried one-piece lubricators and even an lubricator. Both were oversized - I really didn't need that much oil at once. I liked the idea of being able to see how much oil was left, so I liked the jar. They were relatively inexpensive, and while I didn't need two, I thought I might give one. It turns out that two is perfect! I keep one on the table and one in the fridge ready! They are a good weight and they are beautiful! They say it's Shannon's crystal. They are very well made and durable. Holds 3 tablespoons of oil. There is an oil recess and a lip along the recess prevents the lid from slipping or touching the oil. The grip is good (I've had other similar dishes whose handles were very difficult to grab). will be a great gift! (In my photos the glass looks frosted because the dish came out of the fridge. They are not frosted - they are transparent!)
