A great idea to 'clip' your bag to a chair back or pole while you're at the restaurant. Or attach to a tabletop. But it doesn't open very wide. It's also awkward to open because it folds inwards (so it acts like a lock - it's very hard for someone to open and steal your wallet if it gets stuck on something. It's easy if it's on a worktop snaps into place). I took it on a trip and didn't use it to 'lock' anything, but I was glad I had it if I wanted it. Although I've used it on the table too many times. So it's universal.
