Review on πŸŽ’ Mil Tec Military Tactical Rucksack Backpack: An Essential Gear for Adventurers and Military Personnel by David Herman

I chose it for my bug bag

I wanted a backpack that was strong, comfortable and big enough to double as a bug bag. After looking around from expensive hiking backpacks to school bags, I decided the new military model was the way to go. These surplus stores have a few, but most of them either smell awful or don't have the new bag design and don't have a lot of straps and buckles. I was able to pack everything in this backpack and was amazed by its spaciousness and organization. Not sure what 50L is supposed to look like, but I'm shocked that everything fits in it except for a sleeping bag. PROS: - very spacious - organized (main compartment, extra compartment, large front pocket, small front pocket) - 4 straps to tighten or expand the bag so nothing dangles - durable water-repellent fabric (but porous, so not waterproof) - many places to attach gear - straps at the bottom (big enough to hold a rolled up sleeping bag (foam padding) - thick zippers that won't snag - nice olive drab OD - comfortably carries about 30lbs - holds everything from my first aid kit ammo, double tent, food , tarp, tools, etc. (yes, tons per room!) CONS: - plastic buckles, but they haven't snapped or weakened on mine yet - shoulder pads are uncomfortable for a woman (they just don't fit, you have to throw a scarf on your shoulders , so that it is snug and does not slip) - women sit a little low, so you need to tighten the shoulder straps as much as possible, and then v use a belt buckle - an extra chest strap would be great to keep the shoulders from slipping - the shoulders are very thick and stiff! (You will have to break them) - there is no place to attach a sleeping bag, so tie it yourself at the top and hope it doesn't bounce too much. I'm not sure how long that will take. It's not the most comfortable part, which worries me when I have to wear it for more than a few hours. I fixed the situation by throwing a thick cotton scarf around my neck/shoulders to allow the shoulder straps to slide more easily. It's definitely too big for kids and a bit uncomfortable for women. I bet I could sew a buckle somewhere to better hold it on my dainty shoulders. Maybe get creative and add a gel pad.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Nothing here
