I have used this docking station for two different laptops. One has a USB-C port with DP support and the other uses only a USB-A port. Both laptops had excellent port recognition and worked almost straight out of the box, plug and play. Even with USB C PD connected: when I used my USB C DP laptop, the normal USB A 3.0 ports didn't work! It was weird and frustrating because this dock and every other dock has so many cables that it's not that easy to set up and replace. I didn't spend too much time getting the USB-A ports to work because I was in a hurry. The laptop with USB A worked as expected. The display ports obviously don't work as normal USB A doesn't have DP functionality. I didn't deduct a star for this because it was expected. However, since it works with my USB-A laptop, this dock has become a bit more versatile. Of course, the displays don't work, but everything else works. I could then connect my USB-C laptop whenever I need it. Another odd design I didn't like was the audio ports. does it not work with headphones and speakers connected? why should they do it? Overall I think the value wasn't quite there, especially as they don't offer DC power and instead ask you to use your own Power Delivery charger. It would be great if they used Display Link to Displays if DP wasn't available, but that's exactly what it is. I'm not deducting a star for that.
