I received my table protector today and I can tell you I love it! My brother gave me his dining table because it didn't fit where it was. When I visited him I saw a table and chairs in the spare room and asked him what he would do with it. He told me he would give it to Goodwill and I told him I would take it. I found out that he was 1400 spent dollars on it (it's a glass lid) and I wanted to make sure I could protect it so when I stumbled upon this I started looking for something that would protect it.I've read a lot of reviews about this product and decided to give it a try. My glass platen is 54" in diameter so I was hoping that my platen and this guard would be the same size. Yes, I know what you're thinking. 54" is 54". Unfortunately sometimes this is not the case. But in this case it fits perfectly! It's quite thick so I'm hoping the protector will get the job done. Well, some reviews said people had a hard time getting them to sit up straight. This protection comes rolled up for easier and cheaper shipping. After rolling it out so it was flat, I filled the tub with hot water and let a quarter of it soak in the water for a few minutes, then turned it until I covered all sides. I dried it and fixed it with the double-sided gel that came with it. I have a few "waves" but I can live with that. I hope that the "ripples" will disappear over time. But if not, I also agree. Now for use. This protector is made out of plastic/PVC and was a bit tricky to put in. I was afraid something crazy would happen if I pulled it, but it didn't. It took, I used it myself, 10 to 15 minutes. But if I compare 15 minutes to broken glass, I take the protection off every day. I've added photos to give you an idea of how it looks on my desk and how thick it is. If you're looking for something to protect your countertops, be it glass, wood or any other material, you won't be disappointed. Just make sure you're measuring, measuring and measuring what you want to protect. I love this product and so are you!
