Review on 🔭 Celestron AstroMaster Telescope Single Axis R/A Motor Drive by Cory Miles

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Can't track accurately, too loud

I found I could track an object for about 5 minutes before having to fiddle with the controls. The big limitation is the inability to easily disable/re-enable the motor to revert to manual fine tracking (which wouldn't be necessary if it could track accurately). be moderately quiet. Basically sounds like garbage. Not even a constant buzz. You could put some padding in the case and close it at the back to help with that. The combination of poor tracking and sound made me return this. I'm giving it 2* instead of 1* because it was ok and not complete rubbish. Looking at the design I would guess this thing was designed 40 years ago and has never been updated since. I guess the quantity/demand is so low otherwise another manufacturer would come up with something 10x better for half the price.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • No instructions

Good accessory for a basic equatorial mount scope.
