Review on GOLBERG Feet Heavy Duty American BattleCord by Jason Staggs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very happy with purchase

I find this product undervalued even at this price point of $26.49/100ft which happens to be one of the highest prices available. Each of the 7 "strands" inside the housing is made up of many tiny strands, much like a fiber optic cable, only much more flexible. They can actually be removed and used individually, although the ends will need to be cauterized to prevent severe fraying, and even then they will likely separate along the length of the suture unless under tension. Something to keep in mind when using cables in this way. While the fibers that make up the inner strands are very soft and flexible, the sheath they are packaged in is slightly less flexible than other paracord products, allowing for shorter cord lengths. Cord for temporary shape retention. This is incredibly useful when attempting to route the cable through recessed or partially covered mounting points, such as B. Fasteners to truck bodies with non-original liners like mine. Estimated tensile strength of 2650lbs based on 350lbs for each of the 7 inner strands plus an additional 200lbs for the outer jacket which also protects the inner strands from UV rays, dirt, abrasion etc. Compared to a quality 550 line, it really isn't that much thicker (5.6mm vs. 4mm), costs about twice as much and outperforms by almost five times. Good business. Compared to UHMW ropes (Spectra, Amstil, etc.), this rope has half the breaking strength per diameter for about 1/3 the price, yet is easier to work with. (requires no special measures to seal the ends), more versatile (removable inner strands) and probably more durable (UHMW cord/cord/rope is braided with no separate protective outer jacket). UHMWPE has its place, but for things like rigging and bindings where maximum strength versus size/weight is not a top priority, paracord is still the more practical and economical option. no twists, kinks, or bumps, which I can't say about some of the paracords I've seen with more cord-like inner strands. It is also good that it is produced domestically. I would say I look forward to buying more but I have a feeling this bunch will outlive me!
