I use them for porch lighting where they run in boring white mode most of the year. For Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, I dye them different colors to match the garden decorations. Flexibility: Halloween turns scary red. Christmas gets color circles to match the Christmas decorations. Thanksgiving is undecided, maybe orange. The great thing is that I can change the color whenever I want without having to buy separate bulbs for each holiday. Comparison: I have 4 porches on the same switch, so I bought a Kasa WiFi switch to work from dusk to dawn. and remote control. Compared to single WiFi RGB color bulbs for $15 each, I'm still ahead. The WiFi bulbs have a lot of individual remote settings but that's a minor point as I'll go outside to see what the bulbs look like anyway. These remote controlled IR lamps remember the last color they were set to so turning them off is not a problem. Brightness: White is the brightest color at 450 lumens. This is roughly equivalent to a 40 watt incandescent bulb and I would say it is accurate. Colors aren't as vivid as expected as only 1 of the 3 LEDs inside is used (white light glows with all 3 RGB LEDs). Expect to use them as accent lighting in color modes. Conclusion: I am very satisfied with these pears. I bought them myself and have nothing to do with the seller. By pairing them with a WiFi switch, I get pretty much the same features for a fraction of the price. By "essentially" I mean I don't care about the color change on my phone. All I have to do is turn them on and off remotely using the WiFi switch. I use the IR remote to change the colors a few times a year.
