I bought this item primarily for reading in bed, but I also needed a lamp that can be used as a music reading companion. I needed something with a good range, ranging from a gentle intensity (that wouldn't blind me reading at night) but also enough brightness to illuminate my notes and the entire piano keyboard when playing in dark places. It was the perfect choice! I love it and it's by far the best portable light clip I've ever had! It has an amazing range of intensities, and on top of that you can choose the color temperature of the lamp, whether you prefer warm (yellow), cool (white) or daylight (in between). The clip on construction is very strong, durable and secure, and it doesn't slip AT ALL (unlike many brands I've had in the past, including some super hyped ones like Moleskine). The neck/tap of the lamp is very flexible yet strong. Its movements are very precise and once you've got it in position, it stays in place exactly the way you want it. It's beautifully built! By far the best I've seen applied to a clip in a book light. He has great qualities. I gave it 4 stars for "weight" because while I find it incredibly light, the clip design can feel a little heavy depending on what you're trying to attach it to. Magazines and other very thin and soft book covers can easily warp under their weight. The weight is justified because the entire electronics of the lamp are located here. This is also where you connect the charging cables. So that's basically the heart and brain of everything. Battery life also got 4 stars because I don't think I've used it long enough to rate it fairly. I do not yet believe that I have the right to judge this criterion. I think I've been using it for two months now and have only charged it once so far, the very first day it got here. I charged it fully and never had to charge it again, so I think it has pretty good battery life. Conclusion: one of them is worth it! This is an excellent investment. This is definitely the best clip-on light I've had and it honestly works even better than many regular/medium sized side table lights with the benefits of portability, rechargeable and lighting customization options that most "big boys" don't have.
