Evaluation of the engineer.

Firstly, I paid full price for this item and I am not affiliated with the company and I did not receive any 'discounts' - this is an unbiased review. The price corresponds to my expectations. I opened it up to see if it really had surge protection and build quality and ran some electrical tests. The device has a (small) overvoltage protection. You can see it as a blue/silver device on the PCB photo. It's good!2. The soldering quality of the power supply to the board could be better. A small item but with the speed they put together I would expect less than perfect soldering.3. The wires leading the brass strips are a bit thinner than I expected and the way they are welded to the brass strips is a little questionable. I gently tugged on them and they seemed to attach well, but there is room for improvement.4. The circuit board was attached to the case with just one mounting screw, but how it all fits together isn't a problem.5. The thickness and therefore the current carrying capacity of the brass strips is less than I expected. The tapes carry power to the outlets. Under full load they can get hot due to the resistance. Thicker would be better, but again this is a cheap block.6. The area of the strips that "grab" the connector's pins is pretty decent. better than i expected.7. The USB outputs deliver rated power - you will see a 2.4A load at 4.9V.8. I connected a heater to each outlet. The heater consumes over 1400 watts, so that's almost the maximum output. Every outlet worked well.9. The circuit breaker seems pretty flimsy when turning on and off. I wouldn't expect it to last very long if repeatedly changed hundreds of times. Given that most people will leave it in the "ON" position, this might not be a big deal. I've bought a few of these and they've worked well so far. For the price I'd say it looks like a decent value. I like its compact size, USB port configuration, and slots on the back so it can be mounted on a wall or table.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Non-Automatic
