As a professional producer and cinematographer I spend a lot of time with lighting equipment. Although I have a lot of professional lighting equipment, everything I tried to build for my WFH setup was either too bulky or overkill. I really don't like the look of the ring lights (and most of the ones you find are cheaply made and poorly colored), so I was looking for an inexpensive, flat lighting solution that I could place behind my laptop for illumination. me for video calls. Enter the game of shadows. Despite the product's unfortunate name (Sonos anyone?), the lights themselves are ideal as both main and fill lights when placed at eye-level at 2-4 feet away. As a Hue light user, they integrated seamlessly into my existing setup. I liked them so much I bought another pair to use behind the TV as shown in the marketing photos. They're a lot smaller than I thought based on the product photos, but they ended up being better. A larger source will provide softer light, but as long as it's close to you, softness isn't an issue. Being able to customize any color is great! They are great for the tiny WFH studio and I can't wait to add them to my home theater!
