Garmin cables seem to be the only cables that transfer data between your Garmin and your PC. Of course, that means Garmin can charge you more for less. Yes, for own equipment. The product I received works and allowed me to update my GPS which is good. The item pictured is not what I received. The one I received was only a foot long and had no RF shielding (weird lightbulb on one end of the cable) as shown in the picture. I can't use this cable to charge my GPS while driving because it's too short. Really evokes an enthralling feeling when the cable looks closer to a more usable three foot in the picture. Twenty bucks for a cable you only use for updates. that came with your Garmin.
