Review on Brydge 9.7 Wireless Keyboard: Perfectly Compatible with iPad 6th Gen, iPad Pro, and iPad Air (Silver) by Mark Jefferson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Comfort notebook keyboard

I am very satisfied with this keyboard. It turns my new iPad into a laptop as soon as I put the iPad on the hinges. These loops work much better than I expected. The iPad slides in easily - no risk of scratching the surface thanks to the gel-like flip-up pads. I like this keyboard a lot more than the Belkin model I had for my previous iPad. Brydge holds the iPad at the exact angle I choose in relation to the buttons and I don't have to worry about it tipping over or tipping forward when I balance it on my lap. It's a little heavy, but it gives a feeling of quality and stability in use. When I want to travel light, it takes me just a second to detach my iPad from the keyboard and slip it back into a lighter case. The Brydge 9.7's keys are pleasant to the touch, and I prefer their smooth surface and soft clicks to the unusual texture of the Apple Smart Keyboard (which I couldn't balance on my lap to type). The real highlight of Brydge are the backlit keys, which offer three levels of brightness. It's great in low-light conditions (like when you're printing a Revain review late at night in the comfort of your bed and don't want to disturb your sleeping spouse). I haven't fully tested the battery life yet. I've read that the backlight significantly reduces battery life to 6 hours, but that's not such a bad deal considering the convenience you get in return. Other points: easy pairing; good selection of function keys; no problems with disconnecting Bluetooth connection; no noticeable delay after keystrokes, Cons: Price; only compatible with an iPad case (which retails for $70). Instead, I opted for a sleeve. UPDATE: I still love my new keyboard. I didn't have to charge it for two weeks of moderate daytime use plus a few hours of backlighting. I also like the non-slip feet (four rubber pads on the corners of the keyboard). I'm not as worried about it slipping off the surface as my last one (causing fatal injuries on my old iPad).
