Smells rotten or old. I don't know how sea buckthorn is supposed to smell, but I vaguely remember that it had a fruity smell. It smells like old cooking oil and there is no manufacture or expiration date to tell how old it is. BUT, it absorbs very quickly, is not greasy and does not stick. I mixed it with coconut oil for an added benefit and it fixed the odor issue. I've found that it really helped in the short time I've been using it. I would recommend.
