Review on πŸ› GOOD TO-GO Thai Curry: Dehydrated Backpacking and Camping Food, Lightweight & Easy to Prepare by Shaun Bushey

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I wouldn't take it with me as a main meal

So I bought this because I wanted to try something different when I go camping. I recently got into curry so I decided to give it a try. And good. Yes. #01. There's warmth, which is great, but the warmth seems to be there to hide the lack of real flavor. It's not bad at all, it just is. there is heat, but it is only heat. I think if I added one more thing here everything would be fine but it defeats the purpose.02. The texture is nice, I mean given some of the things I've eaten on the trail it's hardly the most unattractive, that's ok. I think 300ml was too much water.03. Only 380 calories, that's not that much. Definitely not for real hiking. I can consider this a light lunch for a day trip with something else to add.04. There are things I can't identify. Something like a chopped bell pepper or something like a bell pepper, but if it's taken out and eaten separately I really can't figure out what it is. This is really a problem with most of these dishes so it's not unique but something that stands out. In short, if it were on sale for example 2 for $10 or $12 I would buy something to have in my house for emergency food. The calories it contains are not worth taking on a hike or car in an emergency. At this price point, it just doesn't have enough calories to make it personally worthwhile for me. So, most importantly, is it edible? Yes of course. Nothing wrong with that if I could eat it, but if it were served to me in a restaurant I would probably never go to that restaurant again, or at least never order it there again. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes. I hope in this particular case it's more my palette than the food itself.

Pros
  • SIMPLE, easy to store, lasts 5 years like freeze-dried products, but tastes DELICIOUS!
Cons
  • Clarity
