Poor instructions for children

Update 12/28/21: After a month of use I can say that this was a great purchase! Or you can take a panel off (a bit tricky until you get the hang of it) and fold it like an accordion. This is perfect for keeping my 8 month old safe while I work. It's quite large and I love that you can customize it in many ways to fit your space. I am currently using it "long ways" with just one panel on the ends and three on the side to make it narrower but still be able to use my living room. It's easy to remove, but I honestly just leave it on unless people are passing by or I'm doing something in the room. The suction cups are pretty much useless, my 8 month old can easily push the playpen. I'm concerned they could come loose and pose a choking hazard, so I wouldn't recommend leaving a child unattended or out of earshot. But I really like this product and it's perfect for what we need. This review is dedicated to the new folding model. * Haven't used it yet, just set it up and will update in the future after using it for a while. * I work from home and my 7 month old daughter is just starting to crawl so I needed a safe way to support her. I've spent hours exploring large playpens, the hard plastic playpens scare me because they pinch fingers and have holes for an arm or leg to get stuck in. I was thrilled to find a foldable net as I have a small living room and don't want it to be a permanent fixture. I knew from the reviews this was going to be a pain to set up. The instructions are very basic, but don't let that fool you, they leave out some important details. First, line up all the tops and bottoms carefully, they are different sizes, but you can't tell at first glance. This will save you from later disappointments. Build from the bottom up. The zippers (except for the "gate") go INSIDE, which doesn't make sense to me as older kids might try to take it apart (although it will probably take a while). The instructions didn't say anything about the direction of the zippers so I mixed up 2 and had to repeat them before I figured it out. To be honest, I find that I have a few small pieces of mesh in places that are too big, so it was difficult to attach them. So maybe line up the parts of the grid and see which ones are bigger/smaller. After all the panels were assembled, putting them together was a breeze once I figured out that the bottom connector piece would slide out to connect. I really like the "switch" on/off lock feature. It's very easy to fold up as a single unit (and just as easy to pull out again), but I prefer to detach a panel and fold it accordion-style (it takes some practice), and lock some of the 'switches' itself Whilst trying to fold I tried again, as I said I will report on the durability/functionality once I start using it. For now, my first impression is that it's annoying, but you only have to do it once! I really hope this is exactly what I need!
