This thing is funny. We've had batteries for a long time. I liked the aesthetics of it and bought it to use when working against random flies. I like it more than just spanking her. It's about the size of a junior tennis racket, but lightweight. It works with bigger flies and even smaller mosquitoes and so on. I wave them in the air and they ignite like little sparks. I haven't had to charge it since I first charged it about a month ago. However, I don't leave it on all the time. The purple ultraviolet glow is beautiful. Just like my previous electric fly swatters, I don't know how to just pump and "slap" a fly. A little more finesse is required. However, once you get one in the air, you'll know. It will click, crackle and burst. If you continue to let it, you will smell the burning fly. I just pat them on the trash and had no problems with them getting stuck in the fly swatter. The included charging stand/base is handy because if you want to use it and leave it on to attract bugs, it will work too. It is important to note that charging requires a base station. It has contacts for connecting to the base. You can't just plug the USB directly into the fly swatter.
