Review on Saw Makita JR3070CT by Danuta Kowalska ᠌

Fits the description completely, very satisfying.

The tool was bought for work in a large overgrown garden, almost a forest. I have been using it for 4 years in cases where it is inconvenient to use a chain saw: for forming crowns, pruning, cutting out of the ground the knotted roots of perennial bushes, etc. The result is excellent, there is plenty of power, AVT does a great job - no return. The pendulum action provides a real fast cut; without it, buying a saw for woodworking is money down the drain. I cut 50mm boards into bars, it does an excellent job, but it’s quite difficult to get an even cut without experience, only with a short file and at medium speed. In this case, I used the regular Makita blade, in others Metabo - 31139 (240mm) and 31122 (300mm). Files are good - I bent them into the most bizarre shapes, then I corrected them, but failed to break them. With trees, it’s easier to understand, but other objects need to be securely fastened - without a vice, clamps, sawing is quite difficult - the workpiece (especially metal) is rather robust. For the dismantling of wooden floors with nails - irreplaceable. Now the quibbles…. It has already been noted that the thrust shoe is rather weak - I confirm. There is some deformation (bending) of its longitudinal part, which is fixed in the saw. Maybe the fact is that the shoe performs partly the function of a kind of damper? By the way, I do not consider the lack of adjustment of the inclination of the thrust platform to be a disadvantage (Hitachi has it), in my case it will only interfere. It also lacks a lock against accidental activation and any device (for example, a ring or a carabiner) for attaching the saw to the belt, because it is not easy to jump on a ladder and large-sized ones with a heavy saw in hand. (Some Bosch models have the aforementioned features, but they are implemented debatably.) A latch would also be useful to prevent the power plug from being disconnected from the extension cord (very useful on a chain 4030). Summary: an excellent tool for its tasks, however, it requires a certain skill and the correct selection of saw blades.

Pros
  • Power, pendulum, variable speed soft start, AVT
Cons
  • Price, weight.
