Review on πŸ” Improved SEO: YONGNUO YN300 III YN-300 III LED Camera Video Light with Adjustable Color Temperature of 3200K-5500K - Canon Nikon Pentax Olympas Samsung by John Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Bright clean light at a good price, great remote/bluetooth functionality, terrible mount

I bought two of them, a Daytime 5500K and a Bicolor 3200-5500Good: the headlights themselves are bright and precise. Obviously the 5500K is significantly brighter for daylight as the dual tone uses only half the LED bulbs for each colour. However, the dual-tone display is more than bright enough at any color temperature for a variety of purposes in a small lighting setup, and the combination of both temperatures produces a nice, bright, slightly golden daylight that's very comfortable. The remote control and iPad app are great for controlling both lights, up to eight can be controlled separately. Really very useful for one person adjustment when checking the lights on the monitor without having to get up to adjust them like in YouTube vlogs or when the lights are placed in a less convenient place. This was one of the important features that made me choose this light and it works great and I am very happy with it. But the most important thing is the quality and brightness of the light, which is also very good. Fur: Haven't found any real use for the manual pen, the included diffuse filters aren't all that helpful (didn't plan on using them anyway, the curtains don't cut much and add some weird shadows if you try to use it as a narrower backlight The Bad: The mounting system is inherently terrible and it cannot be removed (the top is molded as part of the lantern and there is no other 1/4-20 socket. The best solution is to latch it and attach it to a separate ball mount I think the downside is that the existing mount needs to stay in place even with the separate ball mount and I doubt the durability of the existing mount, it seems pretty cheap and flimsy only direction which should be oriented in the same direction and the lamp is tilted or the lamp is overturned. To the direction of the tilt (up or below) you have to remove the legs and turn them around and that's a hassle no pain. And with any battery larger than the np-f550, it's difficult to get it to last no matter what you're doing. Pretty bad in every way. Overall this is a good buy as you get a clean bright light with lots of versatility at a very good price and the remote control makes it really easy to use. Just note that you will likely need to install a better mounting system, which is more painful as the existing one cannot be completely removed.

Pros
  • Four color temperature plates configured and suitable for use in different conditions.
Cons
  • Periodicity
