Review on NKTECH NK-HS2 Inductive Hour Meter For Gas Engine Lawn Mover Marine ATV Motorcycle Boat Snowmobile Dirt Bike Outboard Motor Generator Waterproof Hourmeter (Green) by Matthew Perez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

How long will it work?

I installed one of these hour meters on my log splitter. It was a bit tricky keeping the wire away from the motor, so I taped it with tape for extra protection. I did this outside of where the inductive pickup wire wraps around the spark plug wire. The instructions suggest running the cable along the throttle cable, but log splitters don't have it. I used industrial velcro to attach it to the frame under the engine. I first attached it to the air filter cover but it was vibrating too much and I thought it would shorten its lifespan. I gave four stars because I don't know how long it will last. If I work three years or more, I rate it five stars. Nice little block. "Easy installation: peel and stick, no wiring required or attach with included hardware." The expression "peel and paste" implies that you can do this with whatever comes with the device. No, I used some kind of industrial velcro but it wasn't included. In addition, the included hardware consists of two mounting screws. Separate from the block, they contain two zip ties to hold the wire wrapped around the spark plug wire in place. I bought a second one for my whole house generator. When I first bought it, I missed that there were different colors. Do people really care about color? When I saw the orange was a few cents cheaper I bought a second one. I suspect the price difference is a function of demand. Since you cannot reset the time on the device, you need to keep an eye on it when servicing your car. What I do is make it a multiple of something that's easy to remember. So every 50 hours of use (100/150/200 etc) or whatever you choose, I change the oil in my log splitter or generator. My garden tractor has a built-in hour meter and Husqvarna has set this as the service mode.
