It's good when you don't need to align shots perfectly

This Vmotal time lapse camera has some nice features such as: B. full customization of shooting parameters, but it can be difficult to use when you need to be perfectly center the frame. The camera comes with a camera body and cover attached, a 32GB micro SD card and some mounting hardware - a short arm with a ball joint, a strap and a bungee cord. This is a decent package to start with. The camera itself is of a typical size for a time-lapse or security camera, so it's significantly larger than a GoPro camera. The camera runs on AA batteries, but there are two battery compartments. Bay 1 is on the "camera side" of the case and contains 4 AAs. You can install 4 AA here and the camera will still perform its basic functions. On the "lid" of the case, you can install 8 more AA batteries for a total of 12 AA batteries. You can use this if you plan on keeping the camera installed for a long period of time or if you think you'll be shooting a lot of short 5 second videos at night with the LED on. So this is a good feature if you intend to keep this camera for 3 months at a time. 12 AA lasts that long. The best element of this camera is the setting of the time-lapse settings. Basically, you can record two types of time-lapse videos. First you take a picture every X seconds/minutes/hours. Or second, you can record a short video every X seconds/minutes/hours. To adjust the settings, dive into the menu and you'll be taken to a screen where you can manually adjust the time interval. You can select the day you want to start recording. And then you can choose when to take photos or short video clips. This full level of customization is great. Most cameras like the GoPro offer time lapse, but usually you can only choose pre-selected intervals for capturing an image. Image quality is perfect. You won't mistake it for a DSLR or any other good mirrorless camera, but it's on par with GoPro and cheap point-and-shoot cameras. Images can be automatically compiled into AVI files, so you don't have to do any post-processing if you don't want to. This is also the strength of this camera. There is also a DC jack on the bottom that you can use. It needs 6V and 1A to power the camera through the round connector. There are a few USB cables that can convert USB power to this type of round plug, but they're typically only missing 5V, so you'll need a solar panel that can provide that juice, or a regulated power supply. At least the option is there if you want it. So why only 3 stars? Well, it has to do with the camera body and the threaded holes for mounting the camera. Part of the chamber forms the "front" of the case, and the locking door is essentially the "back" of the chamber. This door closes tightly with a special hinge and weatherproof clamp mechanism. The problem is that the two screw mounting options are on the back door and not on the "front" where the camera is located. The end result is that it's impossible to straighten the shot because the viewing screen is on the back of the front of the camera body. However, they do have a back door that is attached to a post, tree, or whatever. Basically, you have to line up the tailgate without a screen and guess where the camera will be. Then you turn on the time lapse and rotate the front of the camera and close it and hope you lined up the frame. I can get close, but I can never center the frame perfectly. If you just want the leaves of the tree to fall from afar, this will work. But if you want to be within 10 feet of a bird feeder that's right in the middle of your shot, you'll need some luck to succeed. Overall this is a good quality camera that comes with a 32GB card in the box. and gives you full control over the time-lapse options. These features are awesome. However, trying to align shots perfectly prevents this camera from earning a 5-star rating. There should be either a mounting screw on the bottom of the camera body or a waterproof clear acrylic window on the rear door for you to line up your shots. It's a waste of time to have 12 batteries to run this camera for 3 months and then find out after 3 months that your shot wasn't lined up perfectly.
