UPDATED: I noticed three main issues with the first set of toner cartridges I received: (1) loud rattling, (2) toner is leaking, and (3) toner is not recognized as full. All three of these issues were resolved in the last order I received. The quality seems great. I will continue to use it and let you know if I have any further problems. INITIAL REVIEW: For our purposes, these cartridges are probably fine, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone without explaining the issues we encountered. We only use them to print home study materials (books, worksheets, etc.). There are three main problems: (1) a loud knock/click, (2) blue toner "leaking" and (3) the Canon printer does not recognize new toner (ie the printer thinks it hasn't run out of toner). . ). I'm not sure if the third issue is "user error" but I couldn't find anything in the printer's documentation to explicitly "reset" the toner levels. As at least one other reviewer has mentioned, these toner cartridges make a loud pop/click that original Canon cartridges didn't have (see video). I haven't figured out what exactly is causing this, but it hasn't happened before. We bought the printer in November 2018 so have only had it for 3 months. We replaced the original cartridges with them just before Christmas and the clicking started on the first start after replacement. Does it affect performance? Not that I can tell, but some might find it annoying.2. The cyan toner cartridge spreads the dots evenly across the page (see images). The first picture shows them on a printed document. I know toner can build up and printing blank documents can help clean the drums, so I printed 10 blank pages (second image). The blue dots remain clear and consistent through the 10th page. That's a problem. Is that a leak? I don't think so because the dots are perfectly spaced and aligned. Seems systematic.3. The Canon printer still thinks we're out of toner. This may be "user error" on my part, but in my experience printers use an optical sensor to determine when each cartridge is full. I checked the printer settings (both online and on the touchscreen) and couldn't find anywhere to explicitly tell the printer that I replaced the cartridges. I couldn't find anything in the user documentation. So I'm guessing that Canon created some kind of electronic "key" to recognize their own cartridges, but honestly I don't care. The printer keeps complaining that the toner has run out and the print quality is not guaranteed. But again, this isn't guaranteed unless you're using official Canon toner, so the end result is the same. Will I buy them again? Probably. As said, we only use them for private documents, not for professional printing. Considering the difference in price compared to the official Canon toner, I'm saving enough to buy a new printer if needed.
