The grips are firmly attached to the shaft and don't feel like they're dangling. Although I have not tried to disassemble. I'm still learning how to use this tool properly, but I already like it and will continue to use it from now on. The cleaning tool is awesome. It's big enough that I can reach every part of both my legs with ease.
