Sooo great so far! The rescued kitten, who is only 3 1/2 weeks old, came into my life a little over a month ago. As I searched for rescue, it seemed that many rescue organizations used and offered a certain brand, even at such a young age. I was quite surprised. I didn't find my girl in a regular rescue agency so I asked a lot! The Petsmart "cat expert" I went to mentioned that this SUPER wealthy family in Newport ONLY feeds their pets this brand. Of course I thought a rich family would pick the most expensive meal, right? After I dumped Royal Canin the first time, thinking Petsmart was just trying to sell me, I started doing more research. Then I finally tried a few cans of BABYCAT Instinctive. At this point, the kitten was in the 'weaning formula' phase and despite the big publicity/jargon about health benefits or not, not only did she take it right away, but her coat appeared to be healthier; Such a shine in just 2 days! Since then I've tried 2 other brands and found that switching food brands can cause an upset stomach for the first few days. I tried crossing 1/2 and 1/2 twice. As she ate it, it seemed pretty obvious that the change wasn't comfortable for her or me! Ouch! The smells of the other two brands were NOT funny (fresh out of the can or the other end!). I understand. Even if it smells bad for us, if it's good for them, it's worth it. I just couldn't find another brand that loves her so much! Aside from the ingredients, which put my mind at ease, she really makes her coat shine and she smells so good! Most kittens/cats have this cat smell. She smells really good! I can not explain. Also, her "shop" stinks a lot less than other brands I've tried (yes, she's already eliminated the formula entirely). Pros: ingredients, SMELL, kitty loves it and I really feel like I'm giving her the best nutrition, especially since she's obviously been without breast milk for quite some time. Cons: Cost $$. I had a feeling it would hurt. I felt like I was being tricked into feeding my kitten what this super rich family was feeding their animals, and so I did. I will always choose a brand with a better price IF it works for many types of products too. Now, as long as I shop wisely, I can find this exact brand and style (I keep them at BABYCAT for the recommended age of 4 months) in bulk at a great price! I can match or even beat the prices of other "top brands"! I end up spending about $1.69 a day to give her a quality product that we both love. There are offers! Conclusion: It's worth it! For her AND for my nose!
