LED strips: bad design, beautiful looks

These LED strips look good in the case. The lights are as bright as I would like, although there are definitely brighter LED strips out there for a similar price if that's what you're looking for. There are no issues with the range of colors available (although my settings don't allow me to work with each light individually, so I can't speak to that functionality). The magnets on the strips hold the strips to the body quite well, but I still only had to use glue on the tips to make them stick. Most notably, they can't be daisy-chained, which wouldn't be a big deal (to me), except that it really highlights what I think are the biggest downside of these strips: wires and connectors. The 4-pin (male) connectors on the ends of the splitter do an absolutely terrible job of holding the ribbon (female) connectors. There is no chance they will remain connected if a force is applied to either end (e.g. if they are ripped off by the sheer weight of the wires themselves). I had to use a lot of tape just to connect the two ends of each strip. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the cables are not long enough for a larger case and no extension cables are included in the kit. Stripe (launched splitter on mobo -> both stripes on splitter. One stripe stays on when computer is "off" (PS still on) and only occasionally responds to RGB software. Not sure if it (It's a connection issue, or just a problem with the strip itself.) If you have a larger case, definitely save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for LED strips. Otherwise it's ok for the price. UPDATE: After fiddling with the strip connectors, both strips now work correctly. The connection problem actually appeared to be just a connection issue (although the ends seemed to be connected very well - held as tightly as I could with lots of tape). After using a halfway decent assembly method, it finally worked. This should be a pretty clear indication of what a colossal pain it is to maintain a stable connection with these LED strips: without a secondary attachment or adhesive, the chance of them staying connected for any length of time is ZERO.

Pros
  • MULTICOLOR CHANGE: can be controlled by wireless remote control, multicolor RGB lighting makes your life more colorful
Cons
  • Not everything is as good as it says
