The CRTING cat bed is soft and cats love its needle-like shape. It consists of 3 components: the igloo, the mat that helps the bed hold its shape, and the padding that goes over the mat. The pillow has a zip opening in case you need to add or replace filling. The fact that these components are separate means that the pad can be removed on its own for cleaning in the event the cat spits out a hairball etc. At first it seemed that the igloo might be too fragile to support itself without collapsing, but it has become more durable. since they were detached from the compression bag it was sent in. Our two cats seem to be enjoying their new beds (see picture), although it took them two days to accept the strange new "furniture", especially as they had a slight odor for a day or so. We'll see how the fabric holds up when cats knead the rug with their claws (which they apparently do when it suits them).
