They are small, look bigger in the pictures. It wasn't a lot of money, but that's just the other side of toys. Haven't let him use them extensively yet, but we'll see, certainly not much distance/strength. Take plenty of batteries, including alkaline batteries. Be prepared to spend $10 every time you change batteries. It is important that they turn off after use, otherwise the batteries will work even less. They might be perfect for you, I bought them for a 10 year old to use when he plays around the neighborhood for fun with friends or on a camping trip etc. I will leave more feedback when he does used them more often.
