When testing this unit, we noticed noise in the headphone input at high volume, with no music playing through quality headphones, only hissing. I also moved the power supply further away from the device and it made no difference. The little noise isn't a hum, it's a faint white noise, and all connections are tight and secure. There is no noise when playing music. I will say that otherwise the headphone amp is powerful and the bass and treble are very good. The transmit and receive connections work fairly well and are a nice addition if you want to add an effects unit to improve the sound a bit. I've also tested this amp with good quality cell phone music and it's pretty clean. If you have a set of small 8 or 4 ohm bookshelf speakers, this amp can be loud enough for a home workshop, and for the best stereo sound the speakers should be at least 8 feet apart. It also sounds good when listening to podcasts. Conclusion: The Just Amp 5 is a good addition to a mini amp for music lovers. I let it run for several hours and without excessive heat. It's actually going pretty cool. All buttons work smoothly and click in the middle position. The mixer slider works smoothly and without glitches. Aside from the little noise described above, this is a good little amp.
