When assembling, I initially thought that a part was missing because according to the instructions I should have 4 posts to attach to the base plate. I had 4 but one wasn't as big as the others. When I attached the second board it wasn't level. My 5 posts were the same size, 2 had a bolt sticking out at the end, so I improvised and put one of the headless bolts with threads on either end onto one of the posts that was supposed to have a bolt, then it all worked out and I didn't have any extra ones or missing parts. My cat loves this tree. In fact, he really helped me put it together. I am very happy with this purchase.
