Review on 🚽 Kohler Genuine Part 85406 2-Inch Toilet Flush Valve Kit, Various Color Options by Vedavyas Fleming

We have three paint boxes at home which are original when our house was built in 1988 and they all look great, but for a number of years we've been chasing a bowl leak from dampers in all three bathrooms. We tried various brands including Fluidmaster kits and within a year they were still leaking. We decided to see if Kohler had any modern kits that would fit our old dressers, including a three-bolt rubber gasket between the tank and the toilet. bowl and I found them here on Revane. We don't remember ever changing them before because we've never had a problem with water leaking outside the toilet, only at the faucet. We needed three sets but I ordered an extra one. in the event of unforeseen problems. I ordered this extra set because the very first set we opened had a defective nut that was unthreaded. My husband couldn't figure out why the nut wouldn't start, so he took a closer look at the nut (photos attached). The only other issue we're scratching our heads about is a spongy blue float, something from our previous flush. Valves never existed. Since the included instructions are rather vague, we didn't quite figure out the optimal position for this float in the chain. When we left it in the box, the float wouldn't let the clasp close. When we lowered the float, it stayed submerged and began to raise the shield. For now, we'll probably just remove it.
