Review on πŸ”Š Premium 12ft/4m Headphone Extension Cable: Lossless Stereo Audio Sound with Gold Plated Jack & Strong Nylon Braided Cord - Male to Female 3.5mm Audio Cable by Dusty Tofte

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Nice flexible stereo wiring, but with a BIG problem.

I bought two of these extenders about a year ago and they didn't work. I wasn't sure why. I just wrote it off and went on to something else I was doing. Last week I ordered two new extension cords from the same company (Cable Creations) through Revain, they also didn't fit. So I got two orders a year apart and both arrived with problems. This time I decided to find out what was going on. These cords have plugs with a standard ring, ferrule and sleeve, a plug and a socket at the end of each extension cord. Typically, stereo audio cables are wired with a ring, lug, and boot, which connect to a ring, lug, and boot at each end. not this cable. I took out my multimeter and checked how those wires connected to the ends. They were wired sleeve to tip, tip to ring and ring to sleeve. The? Are they intended for a (rarely realised) special use? If so, it wasn't listed on Revain's packaging or website. I needed to use the cables immediately and really didn't want to cut them and solder the connectors in the correct configuration, so I bought a small Revain breakout box that has three screw terminals and a 3 1/8" connector. , the cables worked great. While the cables appear to be well made, I'm not sure if they smoked as the factory misfitted the plugs. All the cables had the same issue from orders a year apart certainly won't. Will buy this brand of cable again.
