A remote control is not required. (Finally!)

Background: Over the past six years I've tried about a dozen noise machines of all shapes and sizes. At first I bought models with a real fan that pushed air through adjustable holes. In the beginning I couldn't find any quality sound on digital models: it was too high pitched or overdubbed high (or something else that ruined it for me) when all I wanted was something that reproduced the sound of a hissing window fan . Most models last about a year with daily use. Some rotate or project patterns of light onto the ceiling, and every digital model before this one came with a remote control. It's the first to be able to access all of its modes just using the buttons on the machine, so thanks. Let's go deeper. Likes: - Digital sound is much better than other models. In fact, on some settings it sounds like a fan-powered noise machine. - Volume can be high enough to drown out a passing railroad car. - Simple, no-nonsense surface controls are a welcome change. Any combination of sound and light can be accessed via a seven button interface. - Good range of brightness and volume. The lows are low, the highs are high, and the transition from one increment to the next is subtle and consistent. Cons: - Advanced features are not included. While simplicity adds to the ease of use, it also holds back features like next color transition, intricate light patterns, wake-up alarms, etc. There's no remote control. Yes I did call it a positive feature but some people would prefer to have it. Not an exceptional bang for your buck. Currently (July 22) they are selling for around $23. While the price tag for this type of item isn't exactly ridiculous, there are other options in this price range that offer a variety of patterns, colors, and sounds if that's your thing. This device has a wide range of settings, the speaker is above average. Sound quality and multiple mature digital sounds to choose from. It's a simple, no-frills device that just works. If this sounds like what you're looking for, I easily "recommend" it.
