I personally love this item. I bought it for this - to shave my legs. People complain that it's not firm enough to sit on or that it's "mouldy". First of all, it's not something to sit down on, stupid people. Second, don't keep it in a wet shower if you want it to look good. Third, the dark stains that form on it from constant humidity are not black mold, but ordinary water stains that normally form on any wood. The stool has been treated to prevent this, but if you keep it in a damp environment all the time, this 'pre-treatment' is bound to wear off and water stains will form on it. It's not the manufacturer's fault, it's your fault for not taking care of it or being too lazy not to take it out of the shower. I take it out of the shower every time I shave my legs, shake off excess water, let it dry and then put it away. I've had it for more than half a year now and lo and behold there is no "black mold" or any black water stains. I find it very useful and would still recommend it and buy it again if it ends up breaking.
