The mug was used and had stains

Bought this for my friend when he opened it looked like it had been used. There was a coffee or chocolate stain in the cup. see drawing. After soaking various products, I was able to clean the cup. I was dissatisfied and outraged that this mug had been used and ashamed to give it to him.
