This is for TCL Roku 55" TV (30 pounds). Once installed (on cleats) it's strong enough. It can probably support a much heavier TV, but I wouldn't recommend going over the ratings since you're out need a 2-3x buffer for various reasons (TV horizontal position, TV moving/pulling, time etc.) Installation Worked out fine I could do it myself but a helper could speed things up a bit It would have a little more horizontal latitude to mount it on the studs but the fact that you can move the tv from side to side on the mount it works very well as long as the tv is not centered. Just take your time to align it (a good level helps, the default device is fine). It allows you to adjust the level a bit after installation, but it's so much easier to adjust it during instal lation and it just looks better - more professional (although you won't really see it) It's in the bedroom so I set it up high and then tilted it down a bit for easy viewing. Ed., the back of the TV is about 3 inches from the wall and the front is about 6 inches.
