I'm not sure how well this would work for a child. Hopefully better than the quality and packaging. The locking button has already popped out and now it can't even extend the leg. Sticks so tight Part of it breaks before it even comes out of the box. I'm not sure if it's meant to be that vulnerable. For what it costs, you'd think it would be a little better quality than it actually is. I hope this works long enough to heal the child as there is no time or stress to waste trying to
